Mental Health and Counseling

We address mental health through two vital avenues:
Site Coordinator
Our Site Coordinators offer daily support with interventions, referrals, parent consultations, individual and group counseling, and crisis support—including suicide prevention and self-harm interventions—right inside the school.
Clinical Counselors
For students facing more intense challenges such as anxiety, depression, or self-harming behaviors, our Clinical Counselors provide focused, solution-based therapy. This critical care is accessible to those who face barriers to community services.
To reduce barriers and increase attendance, our counseling services are free to families and students and take place on the student’s campus. Our Clinical Counseling Team consists of five full-time licensed mental health professionals and several contracted community service providers. Our primary goal of school-based counseling is to provide practical tools to students and their families that they can practice supporting mental health. Our team is trained in evidence-based tools to be practiced in and out of therapy sessions to decrease anxiety, depression, and anxiety attacks. In addition, we work with families and the schools to understand and create safety plans as needed. Our CIS team is trained to work with students who are experiencing thoughts of suicide and self-harming behavior. In addition, a large part of our work is coaching parents/guardians on how to talk with their children about mental health and thoughts of suicide.
We believe empowering students and families with counseling tools and knowledge of available resources is the most effective way to create lasting and sustainable change. By equipping them with skills and a wellness plan they can use outside of school, we foster resilience and long-term wellness.
